The Upper Midwest Council is the council for Fly Fishers International in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
The UMC initiatives are :
FLY TYING: We will be part of the Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo in March of 2024. More details to follow.
FLY CASTING: We will be back at the Expo this year providing free fly casting lessons to the attendees. Lyth Hartz will organize this effort.
CONSERVATION: Chris Vincent (Vinny) and Brad Eaton serve as leaders of the UMC Conservation committee. They will keep us up-to-date on the ongoing efforts to protect our waters and our sport.
COMMUNICATIONS: Larry Olson is our Communications Director and will be involved in setting up a website and our new quarterly newsletter, “Blue Lines”.
WOMEN’S CONNECT: Monta Hayner is our representative on the Women’s Connect program through FFi.
EDUCATION: One of our main education efforts has been to offer fly-tying demos and fly-casting instruction at the Great Waters Fly Fishing Show. We also support an introduction to fly fishing to youth attending the Expo.
